Thoughtful Calc is operated by Shadow Paths, LLC, a Florida limited liability company. This page explains what happens to information when you use thoughtfulcalc.com.

What we collect

We have no user accounts, and no form on this site collects personal information. The values you type into a calculator are processed in your browser and are not sent to us.

Feedback emails

Under each answer and in the footer there is a link to email us feedback. It opens your own email program with the calculator name, your entries, and the answer already filled in, so you can see exactly what you are sending before you send it. Nothing is sent unless you send that email. We use what you send only to reply and to improve the calculators, and we do not add you to any mailing list.

Saved entries

Some calculators remember your pool size, stabilizer reading, room size and state, so you do not have to enter them twice. Every calculator also has a "Remember my entries on this device" box. It is off unless you check it; when it is on, your entries for that calculator are saved so they are filled in next time, and unchecking it deletes them. All of this uses your browser's localStorage, on your own device only. It is not sent to us or anyone else. You can also clear it by clearing your browser's site data.

The "Copy link" button under an answer puts your entries into the link itself, after a "#". That part of a link stays in the browser and isn't sent to our server. Once the page has filled in the entries, it removes them from the address bar. Anyone you share the link with can see the entries in it, and the page tells them the entries came from a link.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are visited and how visitors find the site. It uses cookies or similar identifiers and reports information such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser type. We use Google's consent mode. For visitors in the European Union, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics storage is off by default and is used only if you accept it. Elsewhere it is on by default. Visitors there see a short banner to accept or decline, and the choice is kept in your browser's localStorage. Google describes its handling of this data in how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

Advertising

We may show ads from Google AdSense. If we do, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to show ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other sites, and to measure how ads perform. In regions that require it, personalized advertising depends on your consent. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.

Affiliate links

We may add links to products on Amazon. If you click one and buy, Amazon may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon sets its own cookies once you reach its site, and its privacy notice applies there. See our affiliate disclosure.

Hosting and standard logs

The site is served through Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and protect against abuse, and may keep standard server logs.

Other sites

Pages cite outside sources. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Children

This site is for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's Analytics opt-out add-on. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or delete personal data held about you. We hold little beyond what our analytics and hosting providers process, but you can contact us with any request.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes, for example when ads or affiliate links are added. The date below shows the latest revision.
